Express Entry is Canada’s main skilled worker immigration system. It is points-based, competitive, and managed through regular invitation draws.

Express Entry — How It Works
Express Entry manages applications under three federal immigration programs. To enter the pool, you must first meet the eligibility requirements of at least one.
Eligibility and Profile
You create an online profile with details about your work experience, education, language ability, and other factors. If eligible, you enter the Express Entry pool.
Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS)
Profiles are ranked using the CRS. Points are awarded for age, education, work experience, language scores, and other factors such as a valid job offer or provincial nomination.
The stronger your score, the more competitive your profile.
Invitations to Apply
IRCC issues invitations to apply (ITAs) through regular draws. Cut-off scores vary and invitations are never guaranteed.
A provincial nomination adds 600 points and can significantly improve competitiveness.
Application
If invited, you have 60 days to submit a complete application with supporting documents. Processing is often around six months from a complete application.
Permanent Residence
Successful applicants receive permanent residence and can live, work, and study in Canada. Eligible family members may also be included.
